Bringing the Thunder Down Under – Holeshot Hobbies' Brisbane World Championships 2025 Warm-Up Breakdown
It finally happened – the long-awaited RC Bike World Championship Warm-Up Event hit Brisbane’s England Park Raceway from May 18–24, 2025, and let’s just say:
it absolutely delivered. This place is honestly one of the crown jewels of Australian RC circuits – high grip, smooth as butter, banked corners, and night racing under lights. All that, set against the backdrop of Moreton Bay? Yeah, you’re going to want to race here.
From all of us at Holeshot Hobbies – we couldn’t be prouder to have brought this event to Australian soil. It hasn’t always been easy – pulling off something this big takes serious passion, commitment and a few late nights – but this warm-up was the perfect reminder of why we got behind it in the first place. Seeing the bikes flying down the straight, the pit banter, and the RC community come together made every bit of effort worth it.
To those who didn’t make it… what can we say? There’s always next time – but we’ll be having a laugh about the softies who let a bit of travel or calendar conflict keep them away. Hope your couch was comfy. 😉
Three categories took to the track: 1:5 Superbike, 1:5 Stock Bike, and 1:4 Super Moto. While 1:5 Nitro bikes didn’t run (numbers were too low for this one), we’ve hopefully got six or seven nitros confirmed for the main event in August – and we’re ready for the two-stroke symphony.
With near-perfect weather all week (clear skies, 18–25ºC, barely a whisper of wind), the track was open daily from 6AM for free practice. Pilots and pit crews took full advantage – you could smell the tires cooking on their warmers before brekky. Finals day teased us with a sprinkle of rain in the morning, but that cleared fast, and what followed was the best conditions and grip of the entire event. Couldn't have asked for more.
Ripper Highlights from the Warm-Up
Lap Records Tumble
Superbike: Andy Bishop – 23.1 (Custom Build)
Stock Bike: Andrew Ting – 23.4 (RG BKR-3)
Super Moto: Adrian Wyatt – 29.7 (LOSI ProMoto)
Singapore vs Australia – Stock Showdown
International pilot Andrew Ting came out swinging with a clean sweep of 6 from 6 qualifiers, taking TQ and the overall win in Stock Bike. But it wasn’t easy. Aussie Andy Bishop had his new custom bike dialled and gave Ting a serious run. A1 went to Ting, A2 was Bishop’s revenge, and it came down to A3. Ting reset for a clean final, delivered the fastest run of the weekend, and sealed the win.
Superbike: Bishop Dominates, Skerry & Davis Battle It Out
The 1:5 Superbike field was red-hot. Andy Bishop set the tone in Q1 with the fastest run of the meeting (25 laps in 10:00.428). While a 26-lap run was just out of reach this time, it’s looking more than possible in August. Dave Varricchio and Ben Skerry chased hard, but Bishop was dominant across all three finals. Behind him, though, the fight for the podium was wild. Mike Davis stormed into 3rd overall after a clutch A3, just pipping Ben Skerry and sparking a new rivalry.
Super Moto – Small Field, Big Style
The 1:4 Super Moto class had just three bikes hit the track in the end, but what they lacked in numbers, they made up for in style. With a few jumps thrown in and creative lines beyond the black stuff, it was seriously entertaining. Adrian Wyatt was all class on his LOSI Super Motard, nailing apexes and taking the win in style.
The Wrap-Up
This event wasn’t just about racing – it was about the whole vibe. The smell of tires, the banter in the pits, and the clink of tongs on the BBQ. Everyone from the seasoned vets to newcomers walked away with new data, new rivalries, and more hunger for the main event.
To all of those internationals getting ready to make their way to Australia in August – we sincerely thank you for making the effort. We know it's a big journey, and we can't wait to see you on the grid. The grip’s hot, the track’s prepped, and we’re ready to put on a show. Bring it on.
